Learn Mandarin Chinese by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Coursera)
This specialization is offered in partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a leading research university located in Shanghai, China. The instructors include Wang Jun, associate professor of linguistics and An Na, lecturer of Contemporary Chinese, Chinese Literature and Culture.
The program aims at helping students learn Mandarin Chinese to be able to communicate in real-life situations with ease. It also helps students to pass the HSK level 1 or 2, which is the only official proficiency test of Chinese language.
There are three courses in this specialization that build skills of Chinese language followed by a fourth capstone project where learners are required to complete a few tasks of using Chinese language in simulated real life situations. In addition to the video lectures, the courses include several short plays, interactive exercises and cultural tips to help learners build and practice fundamental skills of oral Chinese in real-life circumstances.
Upon completing this Chinese training course, learners have added 1000 words and 75 language points in their Chinese vocabulary around handling 30 real-life situations.
