How To Set Up Your Custom Menu
There are several ways to make your homepage look interesting and useful to your visitor. So here, I will show you how to set up your custom menu.
First, you need to add a page. Go to the page editor option on your WordPress and add a new page. Type a name, for example, ‘Contact’ or ‘About’. Make sure the permalink is what you want, although you can change it later. Once you are satisfied, click the Publish button.
Once you have enough pages, go to the Appearance menu and create a new menu. Give a name for your menu. For example, you can name it ‘Top Menu’. Now, click Create Menu.
After you have created Menu, you need to add more pages or posts to the menu, depending on your plan for the website. If you want some posts to be accessible from the main menu, simply add the custom links.
Once you are done adding to the menu, click Save Menu, and show the display location as Primary Menu. Save and refresh your home page. You will be directed to your website and the menu you created will be on the top right corner.
If you want to change the order of the menu, all you need to do is go back to the Appearance menu and go to the Menu Structure. You can reorder according to your preferences by just dragging the cursor up and down.
If you want to add a submenu, just drag a submenu block to the right and under the main menu. Just drop it as a subitem. Once done, just save and refresh. You can now see the submenu on your website.
Next, if you want to add a custom link to direct or send visitors to personal channels such as YouTube, simply type the URL of your personal page under the Custom Links menu. Type in the Link Text as per your preference and click ‘Add to menu’.
Save Menu and refresh. You will be able to see the top menu and the video option on your website.
When you want to delete one of the menus, just click on the arrow button and then click remove.
If you want to change the colour of the top menu, go to Customised settings. Go to the settings under Sparkling Options, go to Header, and you will see the top navigation item colour. Click Link colour, and choose the colour you want.
You can also change the hover colour by going to the top navigation item colour. Click on hover colour and choose the colour that you want. Save and publish.
