Site icon is one of the main aspects you need to look into when you create your own website. Often, it’s called Favicon. Site icon appears as the small icon up on the browser tab.

One of the recommended sites for you to find icons for your site is iconfinder.com. You can find logos that suit your website. Another way is to create your own unique logo.

To change your Site icon, go to the Appearance and click Customise. Click Site Identity, and under the Site Icon, you will find No image selected. Now, select an image.

You can upload a new image for your icon here. Take note that it’s best if your image is 512 by 512 pixels. This is important so that it can be used as a site icon and if someone saves your webpage as an app or a link on their smartphone, this logo will appear on their phone screen as well.

If your image is perfect square-shaped, it’s better to crop the image a little. Always check the preview on the right side of the page.

Now that you have cropped the image, you can see that the website now has a little icon.

That’s all it takes to set up a Favicon for your website! Stay tuned for the next lesson on how to make your website responsive and easy to view for mobile viewers.
